Liam Finn's first album in three years will be the first from his new home in New York. After two successful solo albums, Finn (son of Crowded House/Split Enz dreamweaver Neil Finn) has fled New Zealand and set up camp in Brooklyn, where he's been meticulously constructing his latest effort, The Nihilist.
The superbly titled "Snug As Fuck" is the album's first single: a warm, ambling tune that pairs Finn's trademark high-pitch vocals and guitar with a wobbly bass line and just enough lo-fi electronics to give the track a spacey feel without becoming invasive.
Make sure to check out the video, in which Finn celebrates a fictitious tomato/rat holiday. Like most holiday traditions once you think about, it's weird as fuck.
Liam Finn is doing shows every Tuesday in March at Union Pool in Brooklyn. But don't be too fooled by the laid-back vibe of the song; the man has a lot of energy for performance. The Nihilist comes out on April 8 via Yep Roc.
