Up until late last year,Leon Vynehallwas one of numerous house producers making music that referenced the classic Chicago sound. But he didn't really standout from the crowd of other like-minded individuals.
However, 2014 has changed all that, and it's because he's taken a step back from the genre, incorporating a number of other elements into a house-based structure. Up until now, the best example has been "Inside the Deku Tree,"fromMusic For the Uninvited.
His latest track, released as part of Will Saul's excellent DJ-Kicks compilation, is further evidence of Vynehall's growth. "Time" has a similarly organic sound, taking a somewhat mournful tone through use of drawn out strings. Certainly not your average house banger.
