Music makes me so excited sometimes, and stumbling on 22-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer Lemon (aka Victoria Sheahan) reminds me why.
The Toronto songstress teams up with with producers Tay Lewis and Giangelo Power for “Your Friends (Interlude)," which serves as the ultimate breakup song. And not the vindictive you-were-shit-in-bed kind, but the look-how-far-I've-come-and-I-don't-need-you kind. Cliché, some might say. I think it's great.
The eerie pitched vocal melody we hear at the beginning sets the tone for the track, which is then offset by trappy 808s to create a sonically rich trapestry over which Sheahan lays her breathy vocals and sassy lyrics.
The track is half RnB jam, half catchy pop song. It's young, it's spunky, it's dark and broody. Follow this lady on SoundCloud for more of the same.
