Why do we like this?

The adverb "sic" is inserted in a quote to show odd-sounding or erroneous words have been quoted exactly as they stand.

 

This word is used so rarely. I had an editor of a paper once tell me that we should grammatically correct odd quotes instead of using the original and tagging "(sic)" at the end. I didn't agree, but to each his own, I guess.

Let it be known there will be no changes to Leigh D Oliver's track "(sic)." This is jackin' Chicago house, made in the UK, retaining all of Oliver's wonderful talent for creating some of the best, modern classic house other there. Out now on Inner City Records.
