A growing favorite of mine is Church, a record label out of South East London. If you religiously (pun intended) follow my posts, you probably have noticed that I write about the label and their affiliates quite a bit. And there are reasons. Maybe I really like the way in which they all communicate releases with me, but maybe the music just speaks for itself.
The latest in the mix is "Stavros," a luscious new track from Laurence Guy – a producer/DJ who apparently grew up in Chicago and fled to London where he is currently "a purveyor of all things sleazy" ... musically speaking, I'm sure.
"Stavros" is a testament to that. It's the kind of house that gets you in to house. It's like taking your friends out to a great house club after they proclaim they "hate electronic music" and then having them say, "oh, but I liked that." I know you know what I'm saying. "Stavros" is like that. It can change perspectives.
