Originally formed in 2005 in Rimini, Italy, Late Guest at the Party (LGATP) traveled to New York in 2011 to follow up their critically acclaimed debut LP. After releasing the Repeater LP in 2014 fronted by producer Caleb Shreve (Phantogram, Tegan & Sara), LGATP has returned with a new sound, new collaborations, and the addition of Beth Hansen of C'Mere on vocals.
The new sound takes a dark, but mesmerizing techno-leaning energy. The swirling bass line grabs you by the soul and the immaculately produced drums and percussion take control of your feet. The vocal samples might be a bit overdone, but do add another level to the sound - providing it with a human element.
If you're in New York be sure to catch a live show of theirs which, if "Uh Oh" is anything to go by, will be an interesting crossroads of live electronica with the energy of a rave.
