Lanterns Say Oh (Ft. Lay Low)

Sydney radio station FBi's Northern Lights competition helped launch the careers of 2011 winners Oliver Tank and Rainbow Chan (and to a lesser extent, finalist Flume). Last year, the second installment of the competition was taken out by producer Moon Holiday and multi-instrumentalist Lanterns. The winners again travelled to Iceland, where they played shows and spent time writing and working with local Icelandic artists "“ Samaris and Lay Low. Since their trip, they've been working on completing these tracks, and they're now ready to share with the world.

After recently appearing at the second Indie Shuffle Presents party, Lanterns is an artist close to my heart. Originally a bedroom producer, his track on the EP is "Say Oh," a collaboration with Lay Low (singer/songwriter Lovísa Elísabet Sigrúnardóttir). It's exactly what you'd expect from a Northern Lights track, a dreamy combination of delicate electronic arrangement and clever vocal interplay.

The FBi Northern Lights EP II is available as a "name your own price" download on Bandcamp, and includes remixes from all the artists involved.
