Boston native Adam Schatz has found a foothold in the New York City music scene as multi-instrumentalist for Man Man and Father Figures, producer of NYC Winter Jazzfest, and saxophonist for the likes of Vampire Weekend and Those Darlins. But his newest project has him bringing it all together.
As Brooklyn-based Landlady, Schatz attempts to coalesce these creative energies into Upright Behavior, the band's debut album due July 15 via Hometapes.
Preview track "Dying Day" pairs a playful tune with fear of the inevitability of death, repeatedly questioning "What am I supposed to do about it?" on issues of grey hair and aging -- opting rather to sing it out and accept subtle improvements.
A 25-date tour opening for Man Man and others is slated to stretch through September in support of the album.
