England native Jamie Woon has had a busy life of late with remixes, tours, and albums, all culminating to an unfortunate Achilles tendon tear. I'd like to think this gave him time to stick his talented thumb onto Lana Del Rey's "Video Games," a darn good thing for us all. It's infectious, and you will know why upon first listen.
The webisphere is saturated with remixes of the popular single, but Woon's interpretation is the best out there by far. He's showcased Del Rey's sultry vocals in a manner which pays homage to the original work adding a characteristically pessimistic, deep melody for support. I half believe Woon sampled Crash Test Dummy's "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" from 1993 with all the gravelly humming going on in the background. If only...
Woon is on tour now around Europe with two dates at NYC and LA at the beginning of December:
12/1/11 - The Echo - LA
12/4/11 - Grasslands - Brooklyn
12/5/11 - Mercury Lounge - New York
