Known by N.Y. Mag as "The New Singer Music Bloggers Love to Hate" Lana Del Rey (previously known as Lizzy Grant) is back with a whole new take on herself and the music she makes. Her image, one of a hauntingly beautiful Hollywood vixen, is seamlessly linked to a sultry voice emulating the persona of a demure character from the 1940s or 50s.
Her evocative style, in both clothing and in song, pulls you into a world of tragic tales and unrequited love affairs.
"Video Games," her forthcoming single, is a bewitchingly sexy orchestral track paired with an enigmatic video that is equally glamorous as it is daunting. In this video you will see influences and clips from older times quickly connected with the present. The visual for "Video Games" "” edited by Del Rey herself "” makes the most of her aesthetic, splicing sultry webcam shots of Del Rey in with video clips of Paz de la Huerta falling down.
Although there isn't a whole lot of music to be found from this artist, my guess is that Del Rey isn't going anywhere and at any rate, you will certainly be hearing more about her. Check out her forthcoming 7" out October 9th.
