Why do we like this?

"Born to Die" is certainly no "Diet Mt. Dew," but the latest brooding single off Lana Del Rey's upcoming album Born to Die is pretty interesting.

The thing I find most interesting about the self-titled track is certainly the background ambiance, which includes creative percussion, robust string work, and a number of audio samples (a la Gil-Scott Heron). Without it, I think the track would be completely and thoroughly boring.

That said, with a few listens, you might actually find this track growing on you.

Born to Die will be released January 23rd, 2012 and can be pre-ordered here.
