Why do we like this?
Now a household name, the number of Lana Del Rey remixes are reaching the level of The xx and Florence and the Machine. Everyone from Jamie Woon to Penguin Prison have gotten their hands on her songs, and she's been covered by more than one or two bands. Although there was quite the volatile reaction to her recently released LP, absolutely no one can say that this lady doesn't have some staying power.
Kris Menace is a big player in the electronic world, having worked with the likes of Röyksopp, Bag Raiders, Felix da Housecat, Underworld, Booka Shade, Moby, just to name just a few. So yeah, pretty much this guy's a baller. Menace recently hopped on the remix train with Lana Del Rey's "Blue Jeans," adding himself to the long list of producers who've added their personal touch to the artist the world is loving to hate.
Menace's remix holds true to the original in that the vocals are remain as they were originally created. Bringing a spacey, gently building beat in the background, it's an easy transition from Del Rey's version. Menace's electronic melody adds a layer of intensity which Del Rey's lush voice supports beautifully.
"Blue Jeans," originally introduced as double a-side to "Video Games," will be officially released on April 8th with remixes from D/R/U/G/S, Kris Menace, RAC, and Blood Orange.
