Rooted in jazz, modern funk quartet Lake Street Dive formed fourteen years ago in Boston, according to an interview by Pat Moran. The band's unique name derives from a Minneapolis street once lined with dive bars and vibrating with local music talent, where guitarist/trumpeter Mike "McDuck" Olson grew up, according to Robey Martin's article.
Even though they joined musical forces fourteen years ago, the band only recently decided to commit to their music full-time, which has shown to be a very fruitful arrangement.
Aside from the groups funky bass lines, the full, ringing, and soulful vocals of Rachel Price prove to be an instrument of its own. This song in particular boasts a cheeky, contagious female-power ballad, with the hook celebrating female sexuality, shouting "tell him I'm a good kisser!"
Lake Street Dive is currently on tour, and several of their dates are with Madisen Ward and The Mama Bear!
