Why do we like this?
Covers can be boring, and remixes can sound self serving. There are few times when someone makes an honest reinterpretation of a previous work in a way that honors the original while also showing originality. Lagrima Music enlisted Los Angeles underground powerhouse Jimetta Rose to produce a worthwhile remix of Nirvana's classic angst ballad, "Lithium."
DJ Phatrick, the creative mind behind Lagrima, turned down the guitar and turned up the reverb for this one. Drapped up and dubbed out, the only musical element besides the vocals that will remind listeners of the original is the undeniable bass. After Phatrick sets the smoky tone, Jimetta morphs Kurt Cobain's lyrics into a performance that sounds more mischievous and subversive than sad and lost.
An amazing cover by amazing musicians, don't sleep on Lagrima music and the irrefutable power of Jimetta Rose.
