I love music that sounds like something older that I love. The type of song that can make me nostalgic, yet eager to hear what it has in store for us next. That's what you're about to listen to coming from LABS, with this masterpiece of a tune they named "Down."
Aside from the lyrics being something we can all immediately connect with and relate to, Lindsay Bryan's vocals are simply something we will all feel like we know right away because it sounds so familiar. I never mind when that happens.
These days, with all the female vocalists out there attempting to outdo one another with auto-tune and melodyne, it's nice to listen to something more organic and visceral.
I'm not knocking the Swifts, Keshas, and Selenas of today at all, but it seems like it gets harder and harder to simply connect with a voice that feels real. Something that doesn't need the super catchy melodies written by Max Martin or Dr. Luke. Something that has stripped all those fancy bells and whistles away and gives you the raw deal of what life is and leaves it there for you to consume at your own risk.
This is the kind of music that I want more of. These are the sounds that my ears gravitate to and hopefully it's where yours will as well.
