Why do we like this?
I was introduced to this song for the first time back in January by a good friend of mine and talented DJ in his own respect, Max. Let's get right to the point: you should know anything Jack Beats remixes is going to be sick, and after listening to this version of "I'm Not Your Toy," you won't want to go anywhere near La Roux's.
Jack Beats is the baby of Beni G and Plus One representing what Last.fm describes as "the new wave of British house music." You have to appreciate their ability to chop up vocals, add whompy dub beats, and throw some heavy breakdowns to a point where an original song just sounds like a boring, childish version of itself. This is remix culture at its finest.
This track should be played on a dance floor with your beautiful friends, since you know there could be some serious dancing to this shit. As Max described to me once, there's something incredibly beautiful about "watching an entire group of people not know what's about to happen and then go crazy" when a glass-shattering (and presumably unknown) beat goes out.
