A few weeks ago, English singer-songwriter Kyla La Grange had released her tropical-infused electronic track "The Knife" leading up to the release of her new album Cut Your Teeth, due out on June 2. While it's a catchy song in its own right, New Arcades draggedit through their 80s time machine andtook it to a new level.
Taking a totallydark approach to an outright sunny track can be a bit of a gamble, but with high risk comes high rewards for this remix from New Arcades. They've taken a bit of a Depeche Mode-inspired angle, as the bass and synth set a cinematic stage for La Grange's vocals. By the chorus, it all comes together with pounding drums and SEGA-esque synthesizers lighting the way for a track that would find itself right at home on The Crow Soundtrack next to The Cure's track "Burn."
Now if New Arcades will just let me borrow their time machine, I'll be all set.
