Why do we like this?
Knxwledge exists in a world of his own creation. After nearly five years of using Bandcamp has a direct means of accessing and growing his fan base, Knxwledge revisits All City Records, the Irish imprint that released his first full length vinyl project Klouds, to release perhaps his strongest instrumental project to date. If you are a Knx fan, you'll see that as a bold claim.
The addition of Kauliflowr to an immense and impressive discography only builds and details his world further. The East Coast beatmaker living out West has a crazy ear and an old soul that, mixed with a love of bugged out aesthetics, has created digital projects that feel grimy, online-only releases that sound like they take from the past and future and coalesce through an unusual sense of rhythm. Kauliflowr delves deeper into all of the above.
"OnToMe" flips a present-day prodigy and L.A. rising star. I'm not going to spell it out -- it's not that hard to figure it out -- but the treat isn't in the choice but in the manipulation Knx employs. He breaks up something that is fluid and intuitive into something that's a bit more intricate and with a bit more texture. In classic Knx fashion, there's a drastic switch up and we're taken to a droned-out, head-nod suite before meandering off onto the next beat.
