Earlier this year Danny Brown's
XXX condensed about four years worth of old-fashioned grinding and pushed him over the edge from buzzing to full-fledged star-in-the-making. If you take Molly and listen to hip-hop, by now you know (and probably love) Danny Brown.
When Fool's Gold Records issued
XXX on CD and vinyl, they pressed a special edition of the album that included a bonus 7" with a selection of acapellas from the nasal Detroit rhymer, ostensibly to cater to a generation of bedroom producers who would jump at the chance to put their own spin on some of The Hybrid's bars.
Knxwledge is far from a fledgling bedroom producer, but that has not stopped him from finessing some of DB's acapellas over his own work. Appearing a few days ago on his Bandcamp page, Knx's short EP of Danny remixes spans all four acapellas on the 7", underscoring Danny's eccentric and hectic delivery with a sublime and subdued jazz-soul amalgam. Enjoy "ndismoak[TWRK]", Knx's version of "Blunt After Blunt."
