Frantic, optimistic, quirky, and entirely lovable, Kishi Bashi's sound on his sophomore album, Lighght, is all-around fantastic. I haven't heard much yet, so I defer to Gizmodo for their thoughts: "The new album reportedly pushes well beyond his debut's endless synth loops, into a more refined pop sound with catchier hooks and less chanting."
This song shows off a potentially great untapped resource of inspiration for songwriters: food.
"Mr. Steak, he's such a bachelor at heart
he'd never met another cut that likes to booty booty shaky shake
do you believe that a steak couldn't love
or is hard to manage the fact of meat jerkin to the beat"
Yup.
Apparently, “it’s about a tragic love affair about a dancing cut of tenderloin. Although he wants to ultimately be eaten, his other joy in his short life is to dance.”
