Kirin J Callinan Bravado

Last week, Kirin J Callinan released his mockumentary Off the Record, garnering praise from the likes of Jack Black and Mark Ronson for his song “Telling Me This.” A song that doesn’t really exist, much to the disappointment of everyone wanting to feel the same goosebumps Mac Demarco so lovingly describes getting when hearing the track for the first time.

Even though it seems like the rest of us might never get that experience, the Australian rocker did provide a different great song, “Bravado,” in the documentary’s wake. This is a track that is nothing but sincere—loud and wailing, raw and honest, but with plenty of funky synth to break up the barrage of emotions, it’s a ballad of the truest sorts.
