Geelong's acclaimed King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are one of the most exciting bands to come out of Australia in a long time. Having already released two albums and an EP (including this year's spaghetti western LP Eyes Like The Sky, the band is now gearing up to release their forthcoming album, Float Along - Fill Your Lungs. Following on from the album's lead single, the 16-minute sprawling "Head On/Pill," they have released another single which is just as crazy, but slightly shorter.
Sporting a slightly cleaner sound and some serious songwriting smarts, "30 Past 7" is a dense haze of synths, early Pink Floyd-esque guitars, dreamy vocals, and even a sitar. Its accompanying video, directed by Jason Galea, is laden with hallucinatory visuals, cut up VHS footage and white noise, which, according to the director, captures "the fleeting moments between sleep and consciousness."
In the lead-up to the release of Float Along - Fill Your Lungs, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard will be previewing their album from start to finish at three very special Melbourne and Sydney shows. Be sure to catch them before they explode.
