UK funk group Kindness released "Gee Up" in '09, and just recently dropped a video for this two-minute track which is part performance and part sketch. While the original is funkafied goodness, the L.A. duo Cosmic Kids offer up a solid rework that is grooved to its core and twice as long.
As soon as the soul-funk beat breakdown begins, I hallucinate a sudden dance party with whoever is surrounding me at that moment in time. The bass guitars repeat with perfect stride until a reverberated voice chimes in and takes it to the next level. Harmonious and altogether groovy, "Gee Up," whether it be the original or reworked version, is one of those tracks that will never falter in making your body move. Let the imaginary dance parties commence!
