Why do we like this?
As you may know, we've been long-time supporters of The Plastics, even going so far as to join them on a recent tour of South Africa's Garden Route. With the gesture of this song, however, their stock has gone way up.
Kimberly Rose had always dreamed of becoming a pop star, but when she was diagnosed with cancer in late-2010, her vision suddenly became quite distant. That's when he brother Justin Rose stepped up to the plate and asked his friends in The Plastics if they'd let her record a song in their studio.
The Plastics didn't just jump at the opportunity; lead singer Pascal Righini actually went so far as to write a song for her. The result is "Kim's Song," a track that not only showcases Kimberly's amazing vocals, but also stands out as one of The Plastics more catchy singles.
When Kim joined the band in the studio, she summoned all her strength to step up to the microphone, unaware that in only two weeks she would pass on. In that moment all that mattered to her was singing her heart out.
