Why do we like this?
With a name like Killing Fields of Ontario, some uptempo folk rock might be the last thing you'd think of. But have no fear, because this group of English folksters are about as far away from metal as you could imagine.
With a brand new album due out next month, the band looks to conquer the hearts and minds of the indie folk faithful. Their newest track, "Our Place To Drown," just might be the song to do it.
Armed with some super sweet melodies juxtaposed with dark lyrics, "Our Place To Drown" has a sound equally inspired by the likes of Grizzly Bear and Radiohead. Operating in two different places at once really helps this track to shine, with its rolling keyboard and swelling electric guitars hitting you like waves. If I close my eyes I can almost imagine myself up on a cliff watching the waves batter the coast. I'm wrapped up in my warmest sweater with a cup of coffee in my hand, feeling a little sad but completely cool with it.
Keep you eyes out for How The World Ends in November, and you can check out Killing Fields of Ontario's other single, "Cloud," on the band's SoundCloud page.
