Today I’m thrilled to feature a lovely band that I have quietly watched bloom over the past two years: Kid Runner.
In the summer of 2013, I stumbled upon the sounds made by Andy Lizon, Fran Litterski, Kurt Keaner, Scott Griffin, and Bob Heigel. I was, and remain, astounded by their maturity, introspective lyrics, and friendly harmonies. It was immediately apparent to me that this group was not your normal college collective and there was more in store for the Ohio natives.
I don’t want to brag, but we were right. Many ears began to take note of this powerful band. Over the past months, Kid Runner has steadily continued their ascent within the industry. They tackled Cincinnati’s Bunbury Fest and MidPoint Festival earlier this year. And mere days ago, New York’s CMJ. They’ve also performed for fans at Ohio’s Fashion Meets Music Festival and Breakaway Festival. My fingers are crossed they appear in my backyard for SXSW.
Today, we have a brand new single from Ohio’s finest. “Different Kind of Love” is a spectacularly sweet track that reminds me of honey: Impossibly sticky and delicious, and when these three minutes and 28 seconds are done I immediately want more.
Lizon’s vocals makes my heart flutter like a 14-year-old. I can only fathom how this will translate onto a stage, where these five musicians will power smiles all over the crowd.
“Different Kind of Love” will continue to carry this youthful group higher in our hearts and up into the airwaves. Hold on tight!
