Kero Kero Bonito keeps showing different sides to their electropop coin. With their upcoming Civilisation II EP on the horizon, this new single shows a much softer side to their music. "The Princess and The Clock" sounds like a fairytale, both in aesthetics and in title.
The synths on this track are incredibly lush. The drums sound more like microbeats, straight off of Björk's Vespertine. And, much like their hyperpop colleagues, they draw some clear inspiration from J-pop acts like Perfume or Tokyo Girls' Style. It's hard to continuously live up to the hype, but Kero Kero Bonito seems to do it again and again.
We've been waiting almost three years since part one, but Civilisation II is finally out April 21st. That day can't come soon enough.
