Today I stumbled on the incredibly dramatic, cinematic video for KEØMA's single "Black," and was immediately drawn to the stark, gruesome themes in both the video and the song.
As the days get colder, darker and shorter in Berlin, I retreat deeper and deeper into my cave with mugs of tea and blocks of chocolate, seeking the most melancholy of soundscapes.
The duo, comprised of producer Kat Frankie and primary songwriter Chris Klopfer, create music that is both magical and emotional. Guitar, bass, synths, and vocals form the basis for their songs, which are then built on beats. Female producers are a rarity in the pop business, and Kat brings a level of perfectionism to the pulsing "Black" -- a song that could be the sound track to a long night drive.
