Why do we like this?
After the success of his remix of John Legend's cover of "Rolling in the Deep" (a remix of a cover... phew), Kenton Dunson has been busy preparing new material for his upcoming free album, Creative Destruction 2, the sequel to last year's free album of the same name.
The first Creative Destruction, as he described, gave him the opportunity to explore new sounds and styles within his music. This latest project, set to release in June, continues Kenton's goal in the sense that it displays his creativity without any filter.
Judging by the strength of his latest single "Rolling Stone," the album is very good. Kenton Dunson's powerful instrumental provides a compelling backdrop for him to mold the theme of the song lyrically and melodically. The theme was spawned by the feeling Kenton felt as he traveled from city to city to record and handle business -- that now-infamous feeling of being a rolling stone.
For the hook, he decided he needed a different vocal texture, so called friend and former bandmate Garrett Anderson to sing the hook. Garrett Anderson's warm chorus provides just the slightest contrast to Kenton Dunson's sharp vocals and they compliment each other very well. Overall, this song has tons of crossover appeal and is sure to be only the beginning to the many great songs Kenton will be releasing in the next few weeks.
