Why do we like this?
Full disclosure: I was initially unimpressed and cynical about young Kendrick Lamar. I was skeptical about the earnestness of HiiiPower and was hesitant to buy into the hype surrounding Section 8.0, his 2011 mixtape/album (who can tell the difference these days) that had the Internet and otherwise, salivating over the lyrical Compton MC. But I must relent, dude is nice!
This latest leak, of no particular origin or destination, is an interesting one. Utilizing the popular dubstep-inspired sounds of the day, Kendrick comes with this nearly-7-minute long opus featuring Rick Ross' compatriot Gunplay.
Glitchy drums, wobbling synths and cautionary tales against hustling pepper this intriguing track. Personally, Gunplay's inspired and galvanizing bars are the most exciting points of the song.
