I don't know what's happening in good ol' Deutschland at the moment but there is some damn excellent hip-hop / rap coming out of this country.
Germany's hip-hop scene is a thriving one, but English speaking artists such as Kelvyn Colt, Serious Klein, Elijah Hook, and a few select others are raising that level to infinite heights at the moment, and making what is already an important culture relevant internationally. "Traded For You" (produced by Jumpa) is a sultry, trap-leaning slow burner, with intricate vocal rhythms which what sets UK-based, German-born Kelvyn Colt apart from the masses.
"I wrote the song in my dorm room, after my first year in England. At the time I couldn't cover my fees anymore, was alone most of the time or working, hardly having time for music, even though that was what I came for. So I started pondering about what I had left behind. I missed my home, Germany, my crew and my girl especially. I realised that things won't be the same, even if I gave up now and came back. You may never know if you are trading diamonds for gold."
Well it seems as though things are working out for the bright young rapper, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he has in store! Peep the video below too:
