Kaz Moon is the musical project of 22-year-old singer, songwriter, producer, photographer and videographer Cody Yao. Creating playful indie meets electronic productions with a pop bent, Yao latest EP, BLEED, follows on from last year's album Summerbug.
This collection of songs blurs genre lines, with the one minute "LEFT HAND," a '90s guitar tune, "this week // last week," an R&B electronic jam, and opener "24 hour movie," reminiscent of fellow creative and rising star Joji.
The standout for me is "mantra," a two-part song that begins as an optimistic dance tune before turning into a downtempo spoken word poem with Yao reciting a piece called "cookie cutter."
BLEED is a terrific release from the gifted Texan and should be the stepping stone twoards big things.
