There's truly nothing more frustrating than hearing a hit, and watching it be swept under the rug due to lack of marketing, bad timing, or an over-saturation of songs on the internet. Back in May of 2015, I posted about Ugø's track "Lørd," which had the hit quality that led me to believe he was going to blow up soon.
Well, the Londoner is back with his collective mate Kayz, and "Same Team" hits even harder. While this may be cliche, I've honestly listened to this at least fifty times since it came out two weeks ago. The first day I heard it, I played it three times in a row.
The hook that Kayz provides has a singalong-able property and melds perfectly with the heavy instrumental, laying down a fitting canvas for Ugø to follow with a nearly flawless verse. The last line of his verse is a recycled line from his track "Lørd," which is really a minor flaw, as rappers around the world tend to reuse key phrases in the same fashion. Looking past that, though, he brought nothing but heat to the track.
If you fuck with this, head over to Rough Royalty Collective's SoundCloud to here more from the team.
