Why do we like this?
I'm guessing the vast majority of you have come across Kavinsky's "Nightcall" from the popular movie Drive, but you've probably never heard it quite like Alice Jemima's interpretation. I'm quite a big fan of the young Brit; she just has one of those swooning voices that will win you over an instant, and it came to me as little surprise when I read of this ambitious cover.
Alice does what Alice does best, she strips everything down to its bare minimum, which reveals the true beauty of Kavinsky's once synth-y and distorted masterpiece. Her vocals are as delicate and heartfelt as always, sitting on top of a dense and ambient guitar which immediately sets the mood.
I couldn't imagine a better individual to cover this song, and I can't wait to hear more from Alice Jemima this year!
