Ron Kaufman is an artist that I've been dying to follow for, literally, like years. The originally enigmatic artist released an powerful single called "Relocate" in 2011 and since, we've been listening. His rise has been a bit more prolific in the past two or three years, seeing an EP and ties with the likes of Cut Copy through their label Cutter Records.
Most recently, the LA-based artist (who simply shortens his name to Kauf) released another single from his forthcoming LP Regrowth. "Through the Yard" is a slow burner, starting out with very tribal yet almost whimsical notes. The six plus minutes really feel like a spiritual journey, as each element effortlessly progresses into a musical cacophony to die for by the end. This audible aesthetic could easily air on the cheesy side, but Kauf has a masterful touch which shepherds this electronic track to a composition worth remembering.
