Why do we like this?
"Been Awhile" came out some time ago, but it's surfaced randomly at various online musical junctures I seem to be stumbling upon. (My first exposure was from his mix for SSENSE). Repeated listens have convinced me that this track is worth disseminating more aggressively!
The track is part of Kastle's debut, eponymous album which slickly combines a myriad of electronic elements (from 90s and 2000s, like everybody seems to be doing these days), along with hyper-polished R&B vocals. I can only describe "Been Awhile" as darkly shimmering, but more concretely, it sounds like Burial fused with XXYYXX - which means I'm obviously into it.
Check out the whole album, but there are definitely some highlights including "Things We Can Do."
