I tend to have a relatively narrow focus on new music; if it's rap I'll probably hear or read about it, but if I stray too far from that genre without a personal connection, I can be as lost as anyone. Thankfully there's sites like
Fresh Selects that must not put on pants till the afternoon, because nothing gets by them.
That's how I stumbled onto this Kanye West remix, courtesy of GroundIsLava. The track goes from an overly orchestrated forced "banger" (in my opinion, of course) to a minimal dance floor-ready tune that takes the best elements from the originals production and enhances it.
Kenny Fresh adds a bit of insight:
"Just like his peers RL Grime & Salva did to "Mercy,"
last week Wedidit/FoF family member, Groundislava,
breathed new life into GOOD Music's latest single, "Clique,"
w/ a heavy edit that's already commandeering DJ sets the world over."
