The title of this song answers the lyrics' overarching message: that the musician just wants to feel something. The lyrics feel heavy, especially the ones in the beginning, like the lines, “I loved you well just for you to turn to an enemy / I love the smell of you burning your last bridge with me.” There’s something in those words that just hit me a little differently.
The backup singers harmonize superbly with Kali Uchis, creating a beautiful echo effect that is steady throughout the track.
Originally from Colombia and now living in Virginia, Uchis has come a long way both in the places she has called home and the music she has put out into the world. She broke into the music scene in 2012 when she dropped her mixtape. Since then, she has collaborated with other artists like Tory Lanez, Daniel Caesar and Bootsy Collins.
This single is really her time to shine by herself, and judging from this track and the rest of her EP, she’s definitely ready to do that.
