1950's style doo-wop and soul ballads are all the rage right now, thanks to tracks like "Love on the Brain" by Rihanna. And just like any trend, it's easy for the sound to get watered down and played out. However, I'd argue that no contemporary artist has done it or is doing it quite like singer-songwriter KIRBY.
Kirby–a Southaven, Mississippi-born, Berklee College of Music alumni—first gained recognition when she decided to write a song a day on YouTube for 275 days. On day 302, she was signed by Roc Nation. Since then, she's written many chart-topping hits, including "Die With You" by Beyonce, "Only One" by Kanye West, "FourFiveSeconds" by Rihanna, Kanye West, and Paul McCartney, and "Crazy" by Kat Dahlia.
"Loved By You" is a soulful ballad tinged with hints of blues and folk influence. Her voices crackles and soars as she sings heartfelt lyrics detailing her feelings towards a lover she can only dream of.
