Why do we like this?
JW Francis IS guitar pop. He is also a newly signed artist to the eclectic and independent British label, Sunday Best Recordings. "New York" marks his first release on the label and leading track on his debut album, scheduled to be out this fall.
JW Francis' story is quite interesting and serves as the context for "New York." He was born in Oklahoma, raised in Paris, and now currently resides in NYC as a licensed tour guide, and making sincere, lo-fi, bedroom/guitar pop. The song boasts driving guitar riffs, retro-inspired DIY elements, and fuzzy vocals. Here's what he had to say about it:
I’m a licensed tour guide of NYC. This place has taught me so much. I wanted to write an homage, but also express how I feel, which is mostly contained in the first line of the song ‘I’ll sleep when dead.
Keep your eyes open for his upcoming project, you won't want to miss it!
