Every once in a while, swimming through the ether of SoundCloud, you stumble across a remix of a tired track that challenges all notions you have of the original. Bête Noire's flip of Justin Timberlake's oft-remixed track "Suit and Tie" is one of those songs.
Exchanging the slinky smoothness of Timbaland's production for the upbeat, indie dance flair present in much of the duo's scene of Washington, D.C., their take is intricate, future-infused nu-disco beautifully melded with Timberlake's signature croon.
What we have here is updated, '80s modern-soul inspired keys and hip-swinging bass lines that trounce delicately and groove infinitely. For a track as tired as "Suit and Tie," Bête Noire accomplishes a difficult feat: making something relevant as ever. Oh - and actually making Jay-Z's forgettable verse sound somewhat interesting.
