Following a string of releases which have garnered support from some of the biggest names in house music right now, like Justin Martin and Malaa, D.C.-based producer Julius Jetson strikes nostalgic chords in the hearts of young millennials on his latest release.
His newest track, "Came to Get It," is the hard hitting G-house by way of deep techno aesthetic which Jetson has become well known for. Eloquently channeling a sound that has him standing amongst the types of releases on niche labels like CUFF, he carefully sits between a comfortable adoption of top 40 variables and a winking self-awareness which show real authority in an over saturated remix market.
This track for instance, while not a straightforward remix, does make heavy use of the vocals from Joe Budden's "Pump It Up," connecting listeners to their early 2000's memories in a move that, for many other producers, would be seen as a cheap ploy. In the hands of Jetson, however, he reinvents the tune, flips it into something dynamic and of his own language, and gives it new life and energy - a feat which demonstrates an excellent understanding of his capabilities and image as an artist.
