Julia Jacklin is a national treasure here in Australia, and after being forced to put her tour on hiatus due to the pandemic, she has been busy writing material, releasing two new songs today.
"to Perth, before the border closes" was started in Melbourne and finished in Perth and finds Jacklin reminiscing about the past five years of her life. The second track, "CRY," is a soulful country ballad in the vein of Dolly Parton, with Jacklin putting her emotions out there for all to hear.
Both songs feature Jacklin's band, Perth friends, Jennifer Aslett, Christ Wright and Jacob Diamond, and are a welcome pick me up during these tough times.
The songs have been released as part of Seattle label Sub Pop's Singles Club.
