Joyner Lucas has so much to get off of his chest in this absolutely ferocious remix of Future's, "Mask Off." And damn, does he get right into it, with avid vilification of recreational drug use and its commonality among certain mainstream rapper's lyrics -- particularly one who may or may not have written this original track.
Starting in the second and third verse, though, Joyner Lucas unloads what most rappers would try to expand into four or five verses with bars on bars on bars. The verbal assault my ears took in the latter half of this song was everything I could ever ask for in a banger like this.
This track sends a clear message that he is not looking to sell out by spitting the same generic mess so much of the mainstream rap culture is producing these days. Lean, Xanax, Percocet, Molly? Nah. He's cool without that.
By the way, sorry Joyner, for putting Logic on the 'sounds-like' section. I couldn't help it...
