Brooding Brighton singer songwriter Josh McGovern returns with haunting sophomore single "Love Left Lost."
Possessing a voice very much in the vein of songwriting greats Nick Cave and Jeff Buckley, McGovern's sorrowful baritone roars over the acoustic guitar plucking of "Love Left Lost." McGovern's voice intertwines with that of a female singer throughout the track, combining for gothic-tinged harmonies, giving "Love Left Lost" even more of an emotional pull. On the track McGovern had this to say:
I wrote 'Love Left Lost' after falling off the rails and spending a few months in my own head. It was in the dead of winter and I had felt inadequate in the wake of some rough times, so I locked myself away in my old friend Jim’s house whilst he was away and wrote the song. It may sound clichéd but I’ve always found writing music helps me get through those phases we all experience from time to time, and 'Love Left Lost' was about me expressing that and getting back up again.
McGovern is an extremely talented songwriter with a startling voice who looks to have a bright future ahead of him.
