Why do we like this?
If you don't know about Portland's Josh And Mer then I'm sure you soon will! Planet Music is Josh And Mer's first LP, set to release on February 14, and it's an atmospheric mix of wobbly synths and classic indie rock/pop goodness.
It's interesting how Josh Schroeder and Meredith Adelaide came to form Josh And Mer. They happened to meet on the set of a Levi's spec ad where the scene called for Josh to serenade Meredith in a tree. Not your average meeting, but nonetheless, after talking and getting to know each other, the pair realized that they shared similar interests and soon began collaborating... and thank god for that! Fast forward to today and Josh And Mer is quickly gaining fans and a sturdy position in the indie pop scene, even securing appearances at SXSW this year.
Planet Music is a fantastic combination of silky vocals, distorted effects, steady upbeat drums, classic indie folk guitar, otherworldly synths, and an overall terrific grasp on a combination of indie sub-genres intertwined to create a distinctive sound that Josh And Mer can proudly call their own.
If you're pining for more of what Josh And Mer have to offer, I suggest grabbing a copy of Planet Music for free here -- and if you happen to be in Austin for SXSW, please do take advantage of their live show!
