Melbourne-born musician Jordan Rakei is back with the electro-soul stylings of "Mind's Eye." Returning after a studio hiatus, this latest single from the talented 26-year-old encompasses a range of musical genres as Rakei's soothing vocals declare he'll "show you the doorway to my soul."
Inspired bydystopian visions of our future (Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror, The Handmaid’s Tale and David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: The Return) "Mind's Eye" describes a future where people are part machine, having integrated new technology into their bodies. As Rakei explains:
“The subject of the song is experiencing a technological malfunction which is flooding his mind's eye with projections of chaos causing him to question his reality."
Despite the heavy and futuristic subject matter, "Mind's Eye" is a jazzy fusion of feel good melodies and subtle harmonies, continuing to showcaseRakei's growth as an artist.
