It's been over a year since one of my favorite New Yorker's, Jordan Bratton, has released any new material, but all that has changed with the real of "Love & Nothing."
The track was posted to Bratton's SoundCloud page without any promo or information, so I'm not sure if it's a brand spanking new tune or something he's pulled from the vault. Either way it's another must hear tune from the underrated Bratton.
The beat has a funky vibe that channels 90s R&B before the percussion disappears and the driving synth mutates into an uptempo piano line, with Bratton harmonising over the acoustic production.
I'm still surprised this guy hasn't crossed over into the mainstream yet, but if he continues to deliver songs like "Love & Nothing," it will only be a matter of time.
