Why do we like this?
The last time I posted a Jonquil track, it was because T.E.E.D had just dropped a magnificent remix of "It's My Part." I've been off my remix game as of late, but that hasn't stopped me from relishing Point of Go, Jonquil's third album that was released a few months back. In my limited listening experience, I thought Point of Go was all over the place but still somehow managed to stay in its own little rhythmic box.
I am showcasing "Getaway" because it is a breezy alt-pop track that will give you a taste of what Jonquil is all about: jumpy electronic beats sprinkled with solid guitar and piano work that compliment lead singer Hugo Manuel's airy vocals. There's more to it than that, but you get the idea.
Not sure if Jonquil has any plans to tour in the U.S., but I would be very interested in seeing them live. Something tells me that I would enjoy "Getaway" even more after a few drinks on a random Thursday night.
