Why do we like this?
Melbourne's Jonathan Skovron is a busy man. In between being a musical director, music teacher, and member of various bands, he recently found the time to sit down and record a solo EP. Fans of Elliot Smith and The Beatles will be delighted to hear his take on the singer-songwriter genre, with sophisticated musical ideas and a soothing voice that evokes greats of the past.
Comparisons aside, "A Lot Of Useless Things" is a simple yet heart-wrenching song, with a beautiful melody that lulls you in and keeps you yearning for more. Having recently supported The Basics (self-described as "Gotye and two other pr-etty coooool guys") and with a new single due out in the second half of 2013, Jonathan Skovron is certainly one to watch. Until then, you can follow him on Facebook or listen to his music on Bandcamp.
